There is an increase in the number of new cases of HIV infection in Nigeria according to an NGO, Centre for Integrated Health Programmes (CIHP). This was disclosed by the Chief Executive Officer of the NGO, Bola Oyeledun during a one day workshop in Makurdi, Benue State.
Those mostly affected are in the 20 to 29 years age bracket while the States worst hit are Benue, Nasarawa, Lagos, Akwa Ibom and Cross River.
She is however of the opinion that zero-incidence level is achievable especially if the awareness programmes are directed towards the most vulnerable group—the youths.
