The Gombe State government has awarded contract for the construction of a 200-bed capacity hospital at the cost of N500 million.
It was gathered that the hospital would provide comprehensive treatment for snake bite victims.
Speaking during the foundation laying ceremony of the hospital in Kaltungo area of the state, Dankwambo said the hospital will also promote research in the treatment and management of snake bite victims across the country.
He said Kaltungo, which is situated in the rocky highlands of the Benue valley, records one of the highest cases of snake bite in the North-east sub-region.
Our correspondent reports that the Kaltungo General Hospital was designated as one of the national snake bite research and treatment centres by the Federal Ministry of Health in 1988 and since then, the hospital has continued to offer treatment to victims within and outside the region.
