Following the reported cases of dreaded Lassa fever disease in neighboring states, Imo State government has issued a warning statement to its citizens and residents in the 27 local councils, to be mindful of their daily activities and travels. In a statement signed and issued by the Commissioner for Health and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ngozi Njoku at the weekend in Owerri, the state government has said that it was yet to record any such case since the refreshed cases in some states in the country, cautioning travelers in particular, to be mindful of their movements and health behaviors. The statement has also disclosed that the state government was strengthening its Epidemiology Department to ensure strict compliance to health standards. The commissioner has said that the state government would continue to be careful in handling the health affairs of Imo citizens and residents.
