Lagos — As her valedictory message to health workers in Lagos State, wife of the governor, Abimbola Fashola, on Thursday, pleaded for a show of compassion by the caregivers on pregnant women and children who rely on their expertise for succour during period of need.
Mrs Fashola made the plea when she led officials of the state on goodwill visit to first set of babies delivered at three major maternal and child centres on New Year day.
She particularly urged nurses to always discharge their duties with human feelings towards mothers who have come to see them as the closest care providers in time of distress.
She called on the various health workers in the country to unite in the spirit of goodwill and New Year to help relieve the sufferings Nigerians are passing through.
The Lagos First Lady, who received the first baby of the state delivered at exactly12.01 am at the Maternal and Child Care Centre (MCC) of Isolo General Hospital to 23-year old Ugochukwu Onyejieke, expressed joy and gratitude to God for the safe delivery of the baby boy, who weighed 2.5kg and is the first to the newly married mother.
