Nigeria: Lasuth Doctors Perform 10 Successful Implant Surgeries

The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, has successfully conducted 10 cochlear implant surgeries for less privileged Lagosians.

Cochlear implant is an electronic device that replaces the function of damaged inner ear. Presenting the beneficiaries in Lagos, the Chief Medical Director, LASUTH, Prof David Adewale Oke said the surgeries were sponsored by the State Government. Oke further explained that with the implant fixed in the ear, the patient will be able to hear very well.His words, We are happy to inform the public that LASUTH Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) doctors had successfully carried out eight surgeries at a stretch.” The surgery, which is the 2nd in series cost the state government N70 million.
