NIGERIA:  Sokoto partners India on Cardiac Hospital.

 As part of efforts by the Sokoto State Government to establish a renal and cardiac hospital yesterday received a major boost following plans by the Indian Government to play active role in ensuring the success of the project.

 The Governor of Sokoto states, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, since his assumption of office last year has invigorated efforts at establishing a renal and cardiac hospital in the state that would attend to kidney patients.

 Speaking on this, The Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador B.N Reddy disclosed this yesterday when he visited the Governor in Abuja. “We seek to expand our cooperation with Nigeria in the medical and other sectors and this is an opportunity for us to take active part,” the Envoy was quoted to have said in a statement issued by the Media Aide to the Governor, Malam Imam Imam in Sokoto, the state capital, added that the relationship between India, his country and Nigeria has been cordial, saying both countries are working towards enhancing the relationship.

In his remarks, Tambuwal said the proposed cardiac and renal centre would be the best in the country as it would serve patients from Nigeria and other West African countries adding that n“It will be a centre of medical excellence and establishing it in Sokoto will enhance medical tourism and helps the country to conserve the much needed foreign currencies which our people spend in seeking medical treatments abroad,” the governor said.
