An Assistant Director in the National Agency for the Control of Aids  (NACA), Mr. Daniel Ndukwe has decried the low level of participation of Nigerian in checking their HIV status during the HIV free medical outreach in Benin, Edo state.
He noted that 80 per cent Nigerians do not know their status regardless of Government efforts to reduce the spread of this virus. Ndukwe explained that the four days event will cover screening for High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Malaria and Tuberculosis. Also drugs for other common diseases will be dispensed free.

Those who tested positive for HIV would be referred to appropriate health facilities and while those who tested negative would receive advice on how to avoid been infected.
