The Nigeria Medical Association, the umbrella body of all medical and dental practitioners in the country has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to clarify its position on the intended ban enforcement of private practice by doctors and dental surgeons employed by government.

This was sought on Friday by the Chairman of the Lagos State NMA, Dr. Olubunmi Omojowolo in an interview with the NEWs Agency of Nigeria (NAN). According to him, the ban is not new but the NMA would like to know whether it covers just owning of private hospitals by doctors employed by government or visits by specialists to private hospitals to see patients or both.
The ban on private practice has actually been there but not really been implemented.
