The Nigerian Medical Association committee on Girl Child Education has said no fewer than 50,000 Nigerian girls die annually owing to complications arising from wrong and poorly done abortions.
The National President of the committee, Chichi Esike, speaking at an awareness campaign organized by the committee at Modern Girls Secondary School, Ugwuachara, Ebonyi State, decried the high level risk involving Nigerian Girl Children.
He said the poorly done abortions happened as a result of low level of education and awareness available to the girl-children and noted that those young school girls were actually influenced by peer pressure.
