Plateau state trains health workers on early Lassa fever detection.
The Plateau state Government has put measures in place to cont the spread of Lassa fever, following the fresh outbreak of the disease in Plateau State.

Consequently, the government has trained medical and health personnel as well as sensitized the populace on the need to maintain hygiene.The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Kunden Kamshak, while addressing newsmen at the routine monthly briefing in Jos, has said so far that 10 suspected cases of the disease had been recorded in the state, saying that the Government had risen to the challenge by deploying health workers across the state to sensitize citizens on symptoms and preventive measures of Lassa Fever, especially on issues of keeping clean environment and ensuring that rats were kept out of houses and food items. “We have commenced aggressive sensitization and awareness campaign in the state. The campaign is aimed to enlightening the people on how to prevent the disease and ensure that the menace is nipped in the bud. The commissioner blamed the development on insurgent’s activities on the recorded cases of Polio in the North-East zone of the country.
