During a symposium on Lassa fever disease, in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria the Chairman of the Lassa fever Control Committee, Prof. Wale Tomori disclosed that a recent study carried out in Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH), Edo state has shown more effectiveness in new drug which when combined with the existing Ribavirin drug may show more effectiveness.

Tomori also said the committee is summiting a proposal which includes possible immunization against the disease in near future.
