A recent study published in the USA in the Journal: Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarker and Prevention, has shown that African Americans tend to have the aggressive form of cancer called Triple Negative and diagnosis is also late.
Owing to social, cultural and economic reasons factors according to the study, African American women are likely to be diagnosed late withal forms of breast cancer and also receive less effective treatment. They have 40-70 percent risk of being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer compared to white Americans.
The study suggests that African Americans, Hispanics and Native American have less access to mammograms and adequate treatment than white Americans.
It involved about 102,000 women from diverse social, cultural and economic backgrounds in about 18 cancer centres across the USA.
