The House of Representatives’ committee on the Millennium Development Goals on Wednesday affirmed that Ondo State Government met expectations in the implementation of the MDGs projects in the state. Chairman of the committee, Alhassan Doguwa, said this in Akure during a visit to Governor Olusegun Mimiko in his office;
“ We have been to one of your new schools, the one you call mega schools, and we are very delighted and excited to see what you have there. The classrooms, the pupils, even the car park can be compared to that of the National Assembly. I don’t know of any state in this country where maternal and child health is 100 percent free as you have here”. What people should be talking about in Ondo is MDG-plus because the state government has channeled the resources of the state towards full implementation of the MDGs 4 and 5.
Mimiko told his guests that the issue of employment generation and poverty generation and poverty reduction must be given priority as veritable measure of economic development and growth.
