The National Coordinator of West Africa Agricultural Productivity Programme, WAAPP, Prof. Damian Chikwendu, has called on research institute to device new technology that will aid mechanised agriculture in the country. Chikwendu dropped the hint while inspecting some adopted demonstrated villages executed by WAAPP in the state at Ayede-Ogbese in Akure North local government area of Ondo State.

According to him, agriculture could only witness improved development which would aid productivity if new research was being carried out on improved machanised farming by researchers from various institutes across the nation. He noted that agricultural researchers and the institute had failed in making positive impact on the lives of the farmers through new improved technology, stressing that the central focus of the initiative by WAAPP was to make research system have impacts on different communities under the scheme.
