The West African country of Sierra Leone is now Ebola free. Sierra Leone was declared Ebola free by the World Health Organization after two years of being ravaged. The last patient was discharged on the 25th of September 2015 from hospital. Saturday, the 7th of November 2015 made the 42 days absence of Ebola in the country.
Ebola virus infection started in West Africa in 2013 in Guinea, then spread to Liberia Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Mali affecting tens of thousands and killing 11000 persons; Sierra Leone accounted for 4000 of that number.
There was jubilation in the streets of Freetown following the announcement.
