As part of activities to mark the “International Nurses Day” Nurses in Tshwane district on Thursday celebrated the International Nurses Day with the theme: “Nurses: a force for change, improving health system resilience” in order to observe the important role nurses play in the healthcare system.

Nurses Day is commemorated internationally around the anniversary of Ms. Florence Nightingale’s birthday on May 12, who is considered as the founder of modern day nursing.
In South Africa, the first black nurses; M.S Cecila Makuwane is also remembered.
