In Nigeria, the South-south geopolitical zone leads in abortion according to a study by a team of researchers at the University of Ibadan and the Guttmach Institute in 2012. The South-south had an abortion rate of 44 per 1000 women followed by North-east with 41 per 1000 women.
The team attributed the high rate in the North-east to low contraceptive use due to ignorance, while that of the South-south is due to control of family size and un-
