Malaria is a preventable and curable disease but it has remained in 97 countries.
According to world Health Organization (WHO) around 3.3 billion people are at risk of contracting malaria.
Two organizations, Bill Gates Foundation and intellectual ventures are developing a new paper based test called LATERAL FLOW ASSAY(LFA) which uses a patient’s blood sample to detect malaria in asymptomatic carriers.
The LFA a is designed to identify proteins made by the parasites that are present in the blood  and provides results within minutes.
“Today, existing solutions tackle diagnosis in symptomatic patients, but miss infections in asymptomatic patients, resulting in the cycle of infection continuing” says Matt Misner, a Scientist and project leader.
