With the number of deaths related to swine flu soaring to 663 across the country and over 10,000 people presently affected with the deadly avian influenza, the situation has forced the authorities to swung into action in the national capital. The Delhi Government has, meanwhile, issued helpline numbers where people can call to get information about swine flu. The numbers are 1800114377 and 011-22307145. Also, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued a number which is 23921401 for further information.

A total of 10025 people have contracted swine flu this year in the country, as per latest figures issued by the central government. Union Health Minister JP Nadda has assured that there is no dearth of medicines and hospitals are equipped to deal with swine flu. The Delhi government has also ordered all private medical labs not to charge more than Rs 4,500 to carry out tests for the viral disease. The move comes following complaints from several patients that tests are being conducted at exorbitant rates in the city’s private labs.

Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh are among the worst affected states. Swine flu carrier, the H1N1 influenza virus, is prone to appear in winter months. It is characterised by throat problems, body ache and respiratory complications.
