Today, the 29th of September is known as World Heart Day, a day set aside to create awareness on causes and prevention of heart diseases. There are are two main heart diseases; hypertension and atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries, the later is the hardening and narrowing of the blood vessel supplying blood to the heart.
Hypertension otherwise high blood pressure is one of the greatest killers globally ranking only behind cancer but it easily prevented by improved lifestyle—low cholesterol containing food, low alcohol intake, no smoking and regular exercise.
The above should be accompanied by regular checkups.
