The Chief Medical Director of the University Teaching Hospital, Ituku-Ozala, Enugu, South east Nigeria disclosed that twenty two patients including children and adults who were suffering from various heart diseases, had open-heart surgery in UNTH recently.

The UNTH open-heart surgery programme which is supported by VOOM Foundation, an international medical humanitarian organization, founded by a United States based Nigerian,Vincent Ohaju commenced in 2013,

This is the 12th edition of the hospital’s open-heart surgery exercise and about 120 patients including children and adults have benefitted from the programme since inception..
