The National Board of American Society for Quality has accredited the Regional Drug Laboratory of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control. A statement by NAFDAC’s Director-General, Dr. Paul Orhii,on Saturday, said the accreditation of the Lagos-based drug laboratory, came after rigorous assessment of the quality management system of the laboratory by officials of the society.
According to Orhii, the laboratory has now joined four other NAFDAC laboratories that have gained international accreditation in the last one year. He stated that the Mycotoxin, Pesticides, Food and High Performance Liquid Chromatography laboratories would attract foreign exchange for the government as food and drug manufacturers would no longer to take their chemical samples out of the country for testing.
Orhii added, “It is essential that NAFDAC as the first medicine and food regulatory agency in Africa to belong to G-20 heads of medicines regulatory authorities continues to render services of international standards.”
