Vegefresh Tomato Processing Factory, Lagos is set to resume production, its Chairman/Managing Director, Prince S. J. Samuel, has said.Samuel also said Vegefresh Group, with varying interests along the entire agricultural network and allied industries, decided to resume production to assist the government stimulate the economy. Tomatoes processing is important to the economy and that new market opportunities are sparking a resurgence of processing in the industry, Samuel said.He said the company has commenced preparations for the resumption of production, adding that the initial target is to produce at least 400,000 cans of tomato paste daily, with plans to increase production as the economy improves and availability of  enough raw tomato supply for the company to  process, and the optimum production capacity of its processing factory is 1.2 million cans of tomato daily, and  the company’s low point came three  years ago  following increasing insecurity in the Northeast which led to the closure of its processing plant in Bauchi.
