The World health Organization has confirmed processed meat causes cancer of the large intestines (colon and rectum); this announcement made in Geneva, Switzerland. According to the report on which the announcement is based, eating about 50 grams of processed meat daily increases the risk of cancer by 18 percent. Processed meat includes sausage, salami, ham and bacon; they can be made from beef, pork and/or poultry.
The announcement also says red meat could be carcinogenic though remains nutritious.
The World Health Organization says about 34,000 deaths a year globally can be traced to consumption of processed meat.
