East Africa has 10 Percent of New HIV Cases – Report

The East African region has 10 per cent of all new HIV infections globally, according to the 2014 UNAIDS report. And sub-Saharan Africa remains the worst-affected by the epidemic despite achievements registered by the continent under the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

This was revealed here last week by the minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Ms Ummy Mwalimu, during high level talks on health financing in the East African Community (EAC) bloc.
