At a one-day public hearing on food security bills organized by the senate committee on Agriculture and Rural development, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development  disclosed that the federal government has warned Nigerians on the intake of some poisonous food items on a daily basis due wrong processing and preservation methods.

The Minister specifically pointed out examples of ‘moi-moi prepared in nylon as poisonous, because it contains a large dosage of Dioxins, consumption of sachet (pure) water exposed to sun at 28° centigrade is poisonous and could result in kidney and liver failure.

He added that if not for the practice of boiling meat, many Nigerians would have been infected with Tuberculosis (TB) from consumption of cow meat.
